Coming Clean

Today I am coming out of the closet, or as I like to call it, coming clean. Here goes: I am not a great homemaker. There, I've said it. This has been a struggle for me my entire married life, of almost 20 years. You would not believe how messy our house was even before we had kids. Don't get me wrong, I know how to clean. I was a janitor at BYU and I can do amazing things with a toothpick. I just have never been able to figure out a system to keep my house together. I can honestly say that I have never once had my entire house clean at the same time. There has always been some hidden "crap" somewhere. I'm not saying that we live in filth, either, I just feel like I am consumed by thoughts of my house almost 24/7. Of course, this all came to me today as I finally cleaned by bathroom after months of neglect. I even scrubbed the shower, and that probably had not been done...well, I can't even remember. Are you thinking less of me? Does anyone else have boxes of stuff they don't know where to put so it just moves from room to room? Am I alone in this? (Can you tell what time of the month it is?) I'd love to hear how you keep up with your house. I know this is a skill that can be learned and mastered. My greatest concern is what attitude I am teaching my girls about being a homemaker. It can't look great to them by the way I act. Thanks for reading my rant. I am off to dust my bedroom.

Somehow I missed this post when you initially wrote it. I have 2 thoughts for you. 1)Do the kids have jobs around keeping the house clean? That can help lighten your load. 2) Have people over. We can get all sorts of things clean/done when people are coming over. Love you lots, J

I just found your blog.. I love it.
Next time you're at my house let me show you my Oh My Gosh Room. :)
Keeping my house clean is a consent stress for me also-- 24/7. I finally started concentrating on just one room each day. Example: Monday; Living Room, Tuesday: Kitchen etc. Then we have Daily jobs each of us do. My house is never completly clean but I am less overwelmed by it.
Oh, Megan is so so cute I love all the pics.
