Girls Camp

You thought I was posting about girls camp. You are correct. That is where I spend my 39th birthday. They threw me quite the party. The stake even gave me a little gift during our flag ceremony. This was my second year as a leader
at camp. Last year I was with Katie and this year
I got to be in Rachael's cabin. We had a blast.

Here is a picture of the
darling cake our camp
director's mom made for me (thanks Becky and Chris)

The theme was "Our time" and we were the cavemen. I had such a great time being with my girls. I hope I get to go with them every year. I'm not sure if they feel the same.

Sweet 16

Talk about a trip. We woke up one morning and found ourselves with a 16 year old. Isn't he handsome? Nathan turned 16 on June 5th. He can now drive and date, in that order. He loves driving, but has yet to date. He is a busy boy. He returned to gymnastics this summer and has plans to complete as a level 8 in the winter. Who has time to date? He is officially taller than his mother, which is as it should be. There is nothing better than seeing your teenage boy smile. We love you bud!

Eagle Scout

We officially have an Eagle Scout. Nathan recieved his Eagle in May. This is a picture with Duane Cluff, his original Scoutmaster. For his project, he taught the youth in our ward how to make loom hats and he donated them to the Salvation Army. He donated over 250 hats and scarves.

We are so proud of Nathan for all his hard work.

(and so happy we only have one boy)

Getting it together

Well, this world of blogging is completely new to me. And what a world it is! I am amazed at all that I see on my friend's blogs. I bow to you. My goal is to randomly post about our summer events. Then I can hopefully stay more current. Today I want to talk about our friends Christian and Stephanie Nielsen. They are in our ward at church, and they were in a private plane crash last Saturday. They are both in critical condition in a burn unit in Phoenix. The flight instructor who was with them passed away Sunday night and our thoughts are with his family. Christian and Orson were companions when Orson was the ward mission leader, and now Christian is the ward mission leader. They are both awesome missionaries. Stephanie was a professional blogger. I had no idea before this happened, but have since spent many hours on her site getting to know her better. I am truly humbled and inspired by her. To be so incredible at such a young age. It has taken me much longer. (insert giggle) I would encourage you to visit her site and connect with this wonderful daughter of God. You'll find her at www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com Her sister is keeping us updated on her own blog as well. We had a ward fast on Monday and are holding out the highest hopes for their recovery. Their parents and siblings are here in force looking after their 4 small children. I am so grateful for the outpouring of love this has brought. People are truly amazing. I hop you have a chance to get involved in helping this family in some way.

Resort Fun

With school looming we decided on a whim to stay at a resort overnight. We went to the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix. The kids made some friends from Tucson and had so much fun in the enormous pool. It was nice to spend time together away from the responsibilities of the house. That's Megan being thrown by Katie to Rachael. She loves swimming and flying, too.

Beginning

Well, I was inspired by my sister to start a blog. It has been so fun to keep up with her family from a distance. We will start with recapping some events from this summer.

The other night, Katie, Rachael and Anna turned our home into a restaurant. We had a beautiful table set with candles and an awesome menu. I had spaghetti with Italian chicken and Orson had chicken pot pie. Aren't they so beautiful?
