I Remember When......

I grew up in Southern California. We always started school in September. One of the things I looked forward to was back to school shopping. This was the time of year that we bought long sleeves and sometimes even cute boots.(just in case of rain, or a strong mist) So, it is disappointing to me for my kids to go back to school in the middle of the summer. Living in Arizona, we usually do our "fall" shopping in November. Anyway, here are the kids on their first day of school which was on August 11.
Nathan started 11th grade. I can't believe he is a junior in high school. He now drives himself to school, which is nice considering he starts at 7:00 a.m.

Katie is starting 8th grade. She loves junior high. It works out perfectly for someone with her amazing social skills.

Rachael started junior high as a 7th grader. She is enjoying all the new friends she is making.

Anna started 2nd grade. She is at Highland Elementary for the second year and is playing an Allycat in the production of The Aristocats.

Megan is going to preschool 2 days a week. However, as a casualty of being the youngest child, I have no picture of her first day. Sorry Meg!

Mrs. Incredible

In the words of Mr. Incredible, "I feel like the maid. I just cleaned this place. Can't you keep it clean for 10 minutes?" These were my thoughts as I scoured the kitchen for 2 hours. To pass the time, I found a cd of Chicago love songs. Oh does this take me back. I first heard this group in 7th grade. I remember going home from my friend's house and telling my mom that I loved this "new" group. She just laughed and informed me that they had been around when she was young. Okay, I guess I can like them anyway.

Here's a little known fact. I actually lived in Chicago for 3 years while my dad was in dental school at Loyala University. I moved to California when I was three and had a killer midwest accent. I prounounced it "Chic'aaag'o(rhymes with bag). Just a useless piece of knowledge for you.
